Welcome

Well, Fletcher, it looks like we finally got our own dot com!

Not quite yet, Bob. The Bullpen is still in Beta.

Welcome to the PowerCADD Users Bullpen

This is a user-to-user site, focused on productivity enhancements, drawing strategies, and mutual support for users of the most powerful drawing tools in the world: PowerCADD with WildTools.

This is the deal: if you find something helpful here, contribute something helpful of your own.

If you don't like what you see, make a stink.

The Bullpen is in Beta. We are the home team.

It occurs to me that when a piece of software can bring together an architect in France, a structural engineer in Michigan, a landscape architect in Vancouver, and a medical device designer in California, that isn't just good software engineering, that is a little miracle of community building. And what a strange little community it is, the group of PowerCADD users. We share a passion for this piece of software that helps us get our jobs done pleasantly and efficiently. We also get cranky with each other sometimes, but passionate people strike sparks.

It is a program with character. Cheerful. Helpful. Cooperative. Infectious. Not the same old bull.

The guys at Artifice have given us a great gift by hosting the PowerCADD forum, the gift of community. The forum gives us the glue we need to keep these pieces together. Many times I have been sad to see old posts and topics roll away as the river of text continued to flow -- posts that made me think, or laugh, or try something new; posts that helped me figure out how to do what I had been wanting to do for a long time. And many times I have seen somebody have to patiently repeat something they explained a couple months ago. I thought, if only there could be a place where these kind of things could accumulate, instead of just falling away over the waterfall and disappearing downriver -- hey, maybe even a place where we could get into more nitty gritty issues, such as:

-- A place to compare layer configuration techniques
-- A place for Combat Reports: tips and hints from the field; the best of the best, such as 'Bo knows'
-- A place where we could compare our tool palette organization strategies (or lack thereof!)
-- A place to post scouting reports and opposition research; what are the other guys up to?
-- maybe even a place where we could share our office standards(!)

So let's give it a try. We are all on the same pilgrimage... and nobody needs to invent the wheel all over again. If you agree that pooling our talents, discoveries, and experiences will enrich us all, then you are very welcome in the Bullpen. We have nothing to lose but ignorance.

What the Bullpen can't be:
-- It ain't the manual, or Here's How.
-- It ain't a message board.
-- It ain't official. Anything.
-- and it ain't a one-way street. If you like this place, send in something we're missing. If you don't like it, help make it better.

Who will benefit?
In order to get anything of value out of these pages, you should probably:
-- Be using the current shipping version of PowerCADD, available from Engineered Software
-- Be using the current shipping version of WildTools, also available from Engineered Software
-- Be passionate about what you do with them
-- Be willing to share your experiences with the rest of us

There is nothing for sale here (maybe that will change when the T-shirt design contest is over...).

If you think something belongs here, then it probably does. Let me know.

The first contest is: Name the Bull. Who the heck IS that? Drop me a note anytime.
