Out Sheets, Out!

Michael Emde has sent us a great little utility for printing out your PowerCADD Sheets.

If you are sick and tired of individually printing Sheets from a drawing then you'll probably love this thing.

Thank you Mike.

Download it and give it a whirl. PrintSheets.zip (1.7MB)

New Version - 0.0.6, OSX 10.3 International

What's new:

This version of the program will now work when PowerCadd is being used with languages other than English. The program, however, is not localized for any non-English language.

So what is it?

Print Sheets provides the PowerCadd user who organizes drawings with sheets a way to print all of the sheets in the drawing without having to manually print each sheet, one by one.

The program gathers the sheets from an open drawing in the foreground. The user can select the sheets to be printed from the list of all sheets in the drawing and reorder them as needed. After setting the printing options, the sheets can be sent to a printer, or printed to a file. The program's window will float over all other windows allowing the user to always see what it's doing.

It’s important to keep in mind that because the program controls PowerCadd’s print dialogs, it needs to do its work with PowerCadd in the foreground. That's the downside because you can't really do any other work on your computer while the program is doing its work. On the plus side, the user doesn't have to print the sheets manually and can tend to other things while the program does its work. Another plus is that multiple sets of sheets can be collated and consequently be removed from the printer in the correct order - alleviating the need to reorder them later manually.

If there's a hang-up when running the program, it can usually be solved by increasing the delay (move the delay slider to the right). The program will time-out if it hangs up during its operation, after which, it will allow the user to try again. Of course, if impatience strikes before the program times-out, the user can always force quit the program.

Print Sheets requires PowerCadd 6 and OSX 10.3 or greater. Use this program at your own risk and please send any comments to Mike (see the ReadMe file).

Mike adds:

If others find the program useful, there are things I'd like to add, and there are many improvements to make - I've got a long list.
