If you are wondering what a correct, latest state of the greatest instalation of PowerCADD 2000 and WildTools should look like, you are not alone.

The Bullpen Crack Installation team has painstakingly reconstructed the following information.

Essentially, it boils down to this: Follow the directions. Surprisingly.

PowerCADD 2000 installs itself where you tell it. The extensions that used to inhabit the System Folder will now be installed in the PowerCADD folder instead. Rumor has it that this is the preferred way of handling things under OSX.

The WildThing is Wild still, so it will find a home in the PowerCADD Libraries folder in the System::Extensions folder. Alone or accompanied, it seems to make no difference.

If you have any copies of any parts of WildTools on your machine when you install the updates, you run the risk of not getting a proper and complete install. So DO A SEARCH and delete them first. And empty the Trash. How's that for committment?

Note: "Randy Mudge emailed me the following advice: 'Throw away your old Wildtools folder and Wildthing (the WildThing is in the PowerCADD Libraries folder in the Extensions folder) before running the Installer. It is a full install not an updater.' ...I did this and had no problems (so far) with the install." -- Pete Covell

The ReadMe's you will get are worth reading. Below the screenshots is a copy of the PowerCADD Installer Log from a clean install of a brisk new 5.0.12 factory CD.

Regarding an Update install: Check this out carefully:

The 5.0.12 update is different from the others in that it will only search the root of the startup disk for the PowerCADD™ 2000 folder. If it does not locate one there it will create one and install there leaving 2 copies of PowerCADD, old and new. However, the newly installed "updated" PowerCADD folder will not include things that can be modified by the user, such as plot params, color palettes, dictionaries, etc. (because it is an update, not a clean install) So this can lead to an incomplete installation and frustration.

A way to avoid this when updating is to make sure that the PowerCADD folder is at the root and go from there.

With WildTools 2K v.6, the WildThing now correctly resides in the PowerCADD 2000 folder (or in the PowerCADD Libs folder) - there is nothing to be installed in the System::Extensions folder related to PowerCADD or WildTools anymore.

(and don't put it in the XTNL folder either!)
