Font: Orator: 'Ground Floor, dimensions, reference symbols'
Style shown: regular
Type: Postscript

"Orator is my work horse, used for all drawing call outs, reference symbols and dimensions. It is a monospace font (like a typewriter) that originally was used for some kind of legal documents. It has a very mechanical feel - like Leroy - which makes it good for drafting. There is no lower case, only small caps which is handy for emphasizing text by capitalizing or using all caps, meanwhile text is always in caps, as is drafting tradition, without using the shift or caps lock which speeds up typing. I often use the italic and bold variations as well."
Font: Bodoni: 'Section, Kitchen, etc'
Style shown: bold, bold italic
Type: Postscript
Where from: Adobe
"Bodoni is our 'corporate'' identity font, used on our letterhead and business cards. It is also our title font for any emphasized title text on our drawings. We also use it as a text face for reports and specifications. Bodoni is a very old serif face, but it was one of the first 'Modern' serif faces and it has a very geometric form with rectangular slab serifs."
Font: Modular Stencil: 'F13'
Style shown: outline
Type: Postscript, Truetype
Where from: Greg La Vardera via Phils Fonts (www.philsfonts.com)
"The classic Corbu stencil font - We use it for sheet numbers, and detail numbers on our drawings. It also appears in the page header of our specs where it indicates the Division number - makes it easy to find a section by thumbing through. Also comes in a solid version, and the solid and outline both come in a slanted version (not a true italic). And yes, I made this, for myself originally, back in 1990."
We also use
Franklin Gothic
"This is a Helvetica alternative. It appears in our logo, and we use it for sans serif text when needed, such as captions in a report where bodoni is used for text."
Letter Gothic
"This is our typewriter face for correspondence and invoices, any document that we want to have that low tech, we made it just for you feel!"
